Cotswold Cubes

Subtilitas and suburban densification in Johannesburg

Cotswold Cubes is the first completed home within a masterplan for a 2,500 square metre site in Saxonwold, Johannesburg. The owner-developed plan will eventually include four additional houses, forming a compact residential collective in a suburb defined by grand Victorian mansions and oversized contemporary homes. This first dwelling offers a minimalist, self-sufficient alternative, with a footprint mostly on one level and a small roof terrace between solar panel arrays. Together with a borehole, the systems allow independence from the municipal water and electricity grid.
